Impact of Social Media on the Behavior of Youth in Bharatpur City (Summer Project)

Executive Summary

Social media make a significant contribution online that connecting a group of communities that interact and exchange knowledge and information. Social media has become an almost crucial part of our regular life, especially among university students as they are generally using social media excessively in their daily activities like attending classes, doing homework, or solving assignments. The study aims to find out the impact of social media on the behavior of youth. In the study, four variables are taken as independent variables: time spent on social media, types of social media used, availability of social media, and psychology of social media users. Here, the impact on the behavior of youth is taken as the dependent variable. The research design used in the study is descriptive and causal-comparative research designs. Data collection is done with the help of a structured questionnaire which was distributed among 160 youths of Bharatpur out of which 101 youths represent the sample size. Various tools used for data analysis were mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variance, correlation, and regression. The findings revealed that time spent on social media has an insignificant impact on the behavior of youth whereas, the types of social media used, availability of social media, and psychology of social media users have a significant impact on the behavior of youth.
