Young Consumer Buying Behavior Towards Online Shopping in Bharatpur City (Summer Project)

Executive Summary

Online shopping involves the use of the Internet, the WWW (World Wide Web), and mobile apps and browsers running on mobile devices to transact business. Online shopping can also be defined as digitally enabled commercial transactions between and among organizations and individuals. This study aims to understand the young consumer’s buying behavior, identify the factors influencing the young consumer’s buying behavior, and identify the various benefits and risks of e-commerce affecting the young consumer’s purchasing motivation towards online shopping. The various theoretical concepts of “e-commerce benefits and risks” and “consumer behavior” are used in the conceptual framework for this study. Consumer behavior is the study of individuals, groups, or organizations and the processes they use to select, secure, use, and dispose of products, services, experiences, or ideas to satisfy needs and the impacts that these processes have on the consumer and society. This research has been conducted by using a descriptive research design. A quantitative research approach has been used in this research to collect the primary data and this was done via a questionnaire survey. A purposive sampling technique was used for this research and the population for this study was online shoppers of the age group 18-35 residing inside Bharatpur city. The respondents were administered a set of 16 standard questions, and the required structured data were collected through the online survey method. The frequency distribution method, percentage analysis method, and descriptive statistical tool: mean was used to analyze and interpret the data from the survey. The findings revealed that the primary factors that influence the buying decision of online shoppers were the quality and price of the product, the shopping experience with the seller, and good after-sales service.
